The build up to the Olympics is ramping up every day now, and this weekend saw a tantalising entrée that leads us with anticipation on to the main course Opening Ceremony this Friday.
BT River of Music welcomed the world to London with performances from musicians representing all of the Olympic and Paralympic nations as music was played out at landmarks along the River Thames in a massive cultural and musical celebration.
The weekend was part of the London 2012 Festival that has included over 12,000 events and performances across the UK in celebration of the Games.
Performances along the Thames turned the river into what the Telegraph described as “a shimmering ribbon of sound”, fitting perfectly with the look and feel that our team at FutureBrand developed for the London 2012 Festival.
This represented London’s status as a global cultural capital, and the River of Music brought a celebration of global cultures before they battle it out in the coming weeks at the Olympics and Paralympics.
On that note, congratulations to Bradley Wiggins for his incredible achievement in being the first Brit to win the Tour de France – hopefully the first of many British celebrations over the next few weeks!
